Respiratory health
Healthy airways for dense, high-performing production.
Respiratory disease is a costly problem in intensive production, especially in pigs. It spreads quickly through a group, can cost performance before animals look sick, and has traditionally been handled with group treatments.
€2.30–15.35
per fattening pig is the reported median economic impact of respiratory disease in pigs.
Boeters et al., Porcine Health Management (2023)€1.70–8.90
per nursery pig, and €100–323 per sow per year.

EU law prohibits routine prophylactic use of antimicrobials and restricts group treatment of animals.
Regulation (EU) 2019/6 on veterinary medicinal productsWhy respiratory health is under pressure
Society. Animal welfare, air quality and the use of antibiotics to keep dense units healthy are all in the public eye. Respiratory problems are among the most visible signs of a farm under pressure.
Future needs. Demand for pork and poultry keeps growing, which means higher production intensity. A warming climate adds heat and ventilation stress, and both put the airways under more pressure.
Changing approaches. Prevention is replacing blanket treatment: ventilation, biosecurity, vaccination, and nutrition that supports the airways and the immune system.
Legislation. Since January 2022, Regulation (EU) 2019/6 prohibits routine prophylactic use of antimicrobials and allows group treatment only when the risk of spread is high and no appropriate alternative exists. The Farm to Fork strategy aims to cut antimicrobial sales for farmed animals and aquaculture by 50% by 2030.
How we support respiratory health, naturally
Our all-natural portfolio supports the airways and the immune system, especially in high-risk periods such as weaning, cold or hot spells and after vaccination.
Phytogenics
Plant-derived compounds, including aromatic plant extracts, that support normal breathing and the animal's defences in periods of respiratory challenge.
Pre- and probiotics
Beneficial microbes and fibres that stabilise the gut microbiome and support a balanced immune response, which helps animals cope with respiratory pressure.
Vitamin blends
Antioxidant and metabolic vitamins that reduce oxidative damage and support immune function when animals are under respiratory challenge.
What farmers gain
When respiratory health is supported with these natural tools, producers typically see:
-
Fewer respiratory problems
Less coughing and fewer flare-ups in the group, particularly in high-risk periods.
-
Fewer group treatments
Less reliance on antimicrobials, in line with where legislation and the market are heading.
-
Better growth and feed efficiency
Animals that put their energy into growth, not into fighting airway problems.
-
More uniform batches
Fewer animals that fall behind, and less variation in weights and finishing times.
-
Better welfare and more predictable results
Calmer, healthier animals and fewer production setbacks.
By supporting the airways and the immune system with natural, species-appropriate solutions, our products help you protect performance in a market that expects less routine medication.
Respiratory health products
All respiratory health products
Eucamenth®
Eucamenth® is to be used during increased respiratory challenge, this could be after vaccination, after thinning, during heat stress and as a supportive element during respiratory infections in association with antibiotics.
Nefralin®
Nefralin® contains well selected compounds to cope with multiple biological processes and toxic molecules that are considered the source of both acute and chronic renal issues in poultry.
Pneumotilin®
Pneumotilin® is a blend of speci_x001E_c and carefully selected natural active compounds to balance the gut environment and support the immune system towards viral threads.
