Growth and performance

More output from every kilo of feed, without growth-promoting antibiotics.

Growth and performance decide the margin of every poultry, swine and aquaculture producer. With feed at more than 60% of production costs and growth-promoting antibiotics banned in the EU and China, performance now has to come from nutrition, health and management.

More than 60%

of total production costs in pig and poultry production is feed, so every point of feed efficiency counts.

Since 2006

antibiotics are banned as growth promoters in the EU, so performance has to come from nutrition and management.

Castanon, Poultry Science (2007)

Since 2020

growth-promoting drug feed additives are banned in China, one of the world's largest animal production markets.

Why performance looks different now

Society. Society increasingly expects meat, eggs and fish produced with less medication and a lighter footprint. Producers have to show that good performance does not depend on routine antibiotics.

Future needs. Demand keeps growing, and poultry will account for about half of the additional meat consumed over the coming decade according to the OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook, led by Asia, while poultry is also the main growth meat in the Near East and North Africa. Because feed is more than 60% of production costs in pig and poultry production, extra output has to come from better feed efficiency.

Changing approaches. Performance used to be pushed with antibiotics. Today it is built on gut health, balanced nutrition, stress control and a good start for young animals, supported by additives that improve digestion and the use of nutrients.

Legislation. The EU ended antibiotic growth promoters in 2006, and China banned growth-promoting drug feed additives in 2020. Regulation (EU) 2019/6 also states that antimicrobials may not be used to compensate for poor hygiene, inadequate husbandry or poor farm management.

How we support growth and performance, naturally

Our all-natural portfolio supports efficient digestion, a stable gut and a good supply of vitamins and amino acids, so animals turn feed into growth.

Phytogenics

Plant-derived compounds that support digestive enzyme activity and gut health, improving the use of nutrients and feed efficiency.

Pre- and probiotics

Beneficial microbes and fibres that stabilise the gut microbiome, support a good gut structure and help young animals get off to a strong start.

Vitamin and amino acid blends

Balanced vitamins and amino acids that support metabolism, feed intake and uniform growth, especially in demanding phases such as the first days of life.

What farmers gain

When growth and performance are supported with these natural tools, producers typically see:

  • Better feed efficiency

More weight gain, eggs or fillet per tonne of feed, and a lower feed conversion ratio.

  • Faster, more uniform growth

Animals that develop evenly, with fewer stragglers and less variation between batches.

  • A stronger start

Young animals that get off to a better start, which pays back over the whole production cycle.

  • A lower cost per kilo produced

With feed the largest cost item, small gains in efficiency add up to a measurable return.

  • Performance without growth-promoting antibiotics

A route to competitive results that fits current legislation and market expectations.

By supporting digestion, gut health and nutrient use with natural, species-appropriate solutions, our products help you turn efficiency into measurable return in a market without growth-promoting antibiotics.
